A nice little book. It’s primarily an argument in favor of gift economies instead of the traditional monetary-based economies that we rely on. I think the case is fairly convincing on the small scale. It made me want to share more with my neighbors, with the people I’m connected with professional, and on online communities in general. I was less convinced by her case for gift economies to be used as a part of the broader economy, which is something I felt was tacked on at the end and not thoroughly developed

I enjoy learning about different ways to view concepts that we tend to take for granted, like how Born to Run opened my eyes to a different way of approaching running. These always tend to come back to indigenous knowledge.

A quick read, and I thought it was worth it as essay to make you think.
