I saw Zapier’s “AI fluency” assessment by role recently, and it make me really uneasy. I’m enthusiastic and excited myself to take advantage of AI tools myself, but this approach to cram AI down the throats of employees feels gross. It’s the wrong kind of motivation to use.

Looking at the rubric, it seems to be very prescriptive as to how each role should use AI, not just that they need to use it. To me, that seems very limiting. There are a lot more creative uses of AI I’m sure their employees would find if they weren’t afraid of getting a bad performance review by not using it in the ways demanded of them.
